GEORGE, Nov. 17 A weird story of a murder three years ago, kept secret while the slayer married the widow of the dead man, was revealed here Wednesday with the asserted confession of Charley Bosshard, 25, of Enterprise. Prince after Botwthard's rret in Kntrrpriae Tuesday night Bo ah hard readily admitted the slaying; when confronted con-fronted with a story Sheriff Prince had pieced together from rumors resulting from the disappearance three years ago of Spencer Malan, the slain man. According to Boaahard'a confession, confes-sion, he killed Malan at the latter' ranch home, three miles northeast Df Enterprise in Washington county, when the latter, in a drunken rage, it tacked him after a dance which tha two, with Mrs. Malan and her brother, George Schaefer. had attended at-tended In Enterprise the night of March 17, 1935. Bosshard. according to the sheriff, mid the four returned to Malan's home from the dance in Malan's automobile. Bo&shard said he had a sheep camp near their home and had ridden rid-den to the Malan place on horseback horse-back and gone to the dance with them. He said he went to the corral to get his horse when Malan came out of the house and attacked him. Bosshard said MHlan was drunk. He said Malan forced twm into a corner and in desperation he (Boss-hard) (Boss-hard) picked up a short piece of pipe and smashed down on Malan's head. Bosshard said when he could not revive the man. he railed Schaefer Schae-fer from the house. They loaded Malan's body into the automobile, drove up the road toward Modens ! and dumped the body into an old' abandoned well, Bosshard told the i sheriff. Sheriff Traces Rumor The first rumor that Malan may '. have been killed and had not left the country, as was originally believed, '.according to Sheriff Prince, was traced to Schaefer. Schaefer assert-edly assert-edly told his wife ef the killing, the story spreading until it eventually reached the sheriff.
