Show Former Net Ace Taken by Death NEW YORK. Nov. 11 (UP) S. Howard Voshell, 49, who held the national Indoor tennis "championship "champion-ship in 1917 and 1918. died yesterday yester-day after an illness of six months. He was a native of Boston. Voshell was an Insurance broker. Shortly after successfully defending defend-ing his Indoor championship In 1918 he was ranged ninth on the national na-tional list. The following year he advanced to eighth. Voshell gained virtually every title ti-tle on the eastern seaboard, both in singles snd doubles. In 1925 he teamed with Manuel Alonso to defeat de-feat Big Bill Tilden and "Sandy" Wiener for the Florida doubles championship. His outstanding singles sin-gles victory occurred In 1924 when he detested Pst O'Hara Wood of Australia in the final match of the Nassau invitation tournament. |
