Show Maude Adams Only Nods at - 3lilestone65 COLUMBIA, Mo., Nov. 11 CW-Maude CW-Maude Adams, beloved "Peter Pan" of the last generation, gave only a passing nod to her sixty-fifth birthday birth-day today. V She had work to do about 14 hours of it. So the famous actress, who re-i re-i tired 17 years ago. only to emerge this fall as dramatics instructor at Stephens college here, arose at 5 a. m.. made hertolf nip f fnffrm and plunged into work. ' Miss Adams will start full cast rehearsals tonight on Rostand's "Chantecler." for which sh is training train-ing four casts of 125 girls. She will make only two concessions conces-sions to her birthday. She was to breakfast at 8 a. m. at the home of James M. Wood, president of this junior college for girls, and have a birthday cake at luncheon. Miss Adams has set herself an arduous daily schedule, which begins be-gins at 5 a. m. and continues until 10 p. m. Mornings and afternoons are devoted to persona interviews with student actresses and work toward presentation of "Chantecler" late this month. Each cast will present pre-sent the play one night. Miss Adams is intensely Interest- her renewed joy in life but sometimes some-times she finds her long days "tiring." "tir-ing." She has few recreations, chief of which are motoring and "jogging." "jog-ging." which she described as running run-ning without getting any place. |
