Show ACTION IN BOND PRDBEPLEDGED Attorney General Joseph Chez Thursday still was waiting for a twice requested copy of an audit report of state land board bond transactions. When he gets it. he promised, "we'll prosecute to the limit, no matter who it is. if the facts Justify." Although the attorney general wrote John W. Tiuy. state auditor, lata Wednesday, requesting a copy of the report, which reportedly rec-urn rec-urn nit? tided frsitd invti station-of station-of the bond transactions, he still was without It Thursday. The request re-quest contained a reminder that Mr. Chez last week asked R. R. Carey, deputy state auditor in charge of the land board audit, for a copy, and also promised prompt examination of the report.- "If examination of the report justifies jus-tifies a grand Jury investigation," Attorney General Chez said Thursday, Thurs-day, "this office will move Immediately Imme-diately toward calling the Jury, and we will prosecute to the limit, no matter who it la" Letter la Reminder The letter to Mr. Guy was merely a reminder that the report requested request-ed from Mr. Carey baa not been forthcoming and a promise for pi'Hiipt action. ' Meanwhile, the attorney general Is reviewing a partial audit report of land board bond transactions which was demanded by the last legislature. The legislature adjourned ad-journed before the audit was completed com-pleted and directed that the atate auditor's offics make a complete new and thorough audit. It was the new audit which rocked the capltol with its assertions asser-tions of irregularities in land board bond transactions. And to add more fuel to the flames, another audit, of farm loan transactions by the board, now is under way. The legislative enactment demanding de-manding the audit also provided for a resume of general conditions in the land board. This report' la expected to be completed within six months. While the land board chose to Ignore Ig-nore the demands for a grand jury investigation and Issued statements branding accusations as unfounded, when they were originally made, observers were wondering what may develop at a regular land board meeting November 18. On that date Mr Guy and Mr. Carey are expected to appear before the board to substantiate charges contained in the audit. |
