Show PRISON TERM AVERAGE FOUND Utah Sentences Lower Than U. S. Median yuh's state prisoners serve sentences sen-tences averaging longer' than Jhose of Idaho prisoners, but less than the national average, accord-Ing-to a federal census bureau report issued Tuesday in Washington, Wash-ington, D. C. - Based on a study covering all prisoners released during 1938, the bureau's figures set the median me-dian term of male felons In Utah for all crimes at 14.6 months, com- pared with an Idaho median of 13.3 months and a national average aver-age of 19 months.' Illinois topped the list with an average of 46.2 months. North Dakota being low with an average of 8.1 months. Only burglary was classified in a breakdown of sentences by crimes in Utah, with average sentence sen-tence of 14.1 months, Idaho's average sentence for burglary was 12.9 months; for larceny, 11.6 months. |
