Union Pacific sympathized moderately with the advance In Southern Pacific, thousands of shares being bought between US and 116. United States Steel preferred became more active, absorbing large amounts at 95 and eventually touching 95. The common brought 29. Heavy realizing In United States Steel preferred drove it down to 94 and forced a setback in the general list, but near 11 o'clock the direction of prices became strongly upward again. Interest in the market became more widely diffused in the closing hour and there was a substantial increase in the purchases of the railroad list. Representative Represen-tative stocks, such as the Krles. Pennsylvania, Pennsyl-vania, Louisville & Nashville. New York Central, Missouri Pacific, Rock Island, Union Pacific, Illinois Central and 81 Paul moved up in the vicinity of a point snd some minor railroads and specialties did as well.
