Show MAPLE LEAF BOBS IftTO NOTICE AGAIN CHICAGO. Nov. 26. The report that the Union Pacific has purchased the Chicago Great Western was reiterated this afternoon after-noon with such posltlveness and circumstantial circum-stantial evidence In its favor that it received re-ceived general acceptance. The deal which has been pending for some time was said to have been closed, and the Chicago Great Western will shortly lose its Identity Iden-tity as an Independent road and either be wholly absDrbed by the Union Paelfio itself or distributed piece-meal among the western connections of that system. One report his It that the Chicago Great Western will be divided between the Chicago Chi-cago & Northwestern and the Chicago. Milwaukee & St. Paul systems, both of which have for several years been close connections of the Union Pacific. The Northwestern, it is said, will take that portion of the Maple Leaf which runs from Marshalltown. Ia., to Kansas City, and the Milwaukee ft St. Paul will take the St. Paul end of the line. There is another view of the cas. however, how-ever, which is that the Union Pacific will keep the Maple Leaf and operate it as the eastern end of its own system. It will, it Is declared, give the Union Pacific Pa-cific a very good outlet from Omaha to-Chicago to-Chicago and the short line from Omaha to St. Paul. |
