With the assistance of the matron ma-tron he placed her In the seat after a struggle. All went well until the train bad reached a point about two miles this side of Murray. Then, like a fiaaof the woman Jumped from the seat and reached the bell cord. Before she could be stopped she had given It two pulls, the signal to stop the train. Within 300 yards the train was brought to a standstill stand-still and the conductor rushed through to locate tee trouDie, An explanation was given by the officer offi-cer and the train proceeded. But the officer decided that he would take no more chances, so he proceeded to the "holding hands act" and never lost his hold until the hospital was, reached. As1 the attendants led the patient to the woman's ward he turned to Dr. Hardy and remarked. "Well, I have held hands before and for a much longer time, but that is the limit. I would rather do a week's work than hold hands for an hour that way again." They bad recently been married. Two hours before hi9 usual time he stepped from the car and entered his yard. A feeling of apprehension tugged at his heart as- he noted the closely drawn tlinds. Hastily taking his latchkey from his pocket he unlocked the door and entered. His wife was not to be seen. He called. No answer greeted his ear. He hurriedly went from room to room, calling as he went, but no response was given. Then he thought of the bathroom. His hart almost stopped beating as a terrible ter-rible fear flashed upon him. He went to the bathroom, but the door was closed. The light streamed from the crevice beneath the door. He was almost paralyzed with apprehension. Hastily pushing the door open, lie saw that his worst fears were too terribly realized. . There sat his wife, cutting her corns with his best razor. |
