Show TEST LAWSUIT FOR FRATERNAL ORDERS Question of Liability 'Before Initik-tion Initik-tion "Will Be Fought Out in Salt Lake Court. A novel insurance -ease and one that will interest all fraternal insurance orders, or-ders, particularly the, "Woodmen of the World, will be tried before Judge Stewart in the Third District court on May 9th. Retta Sterling has brought suit against the head camp. Pacific Jurisdiction, Woodmen Wood-men of the World, for $3000 insurance, alleged al-leged to be due because of the death of her husband. Payment Is refused on the ground that Sterling had not been initiated In the order or-der at the time of his death. Sterling had at one time been a member, but had allowed his membership to lapse. He was then re-examined and took out a new policy. The cleric of the local camp told nlm that he would have to be initiated ini-tiated again, and he presented himself for Initiation. For some reason the camp did not get around to the Initiation that night and before he could attend again Sterling died. . George M. Sullivan will represent the -widow in the case. - |
