Show SALT LAKE IS BIDDING FOR NEXT CONVENTION OF CONDUCTORS' ORDER .-. . i . PITTSBURG, - May 12. Nearly 6000 delegates and their friends were present pres-ent in the old city hall today when Grand Chief Conductor E. K. Clark called to order the twenty-ninth biennial convention of the Order of Railway Conductors Con-ductors of the United States, Canada and Mexico, ? . ' - - (5 rand Chief Conductor Clark In his address reviewed the work of the past two years and spoke encouragingly of the prospects of the future. This evening there will be a public reception In' Carnegie Music hall, when addresses of welcome will be made by the city officials, with responses by Grand Chief Conductor Clark and Mrs. J. D. Moore, grand president of the ladies' auxiliary. j Alvln theater was crowded at the first session, of the convention of the ladies' auxiliary. Mrs. Moore had charge of the j exercises. Addresses were made by all the grand officers and a welcome extended by local women. One of the most Important subjects to be considered by the auxiliary will be the Increase of death benefits from $300 to $500. . The contest for the next convention is a warm one between Salt Lake, Denver, Boston and Buffalo. |
