Show IRRIGATION COMMISSION PLANS $2,000,000 WORK Will Place Utab Lake Project First; Expects Much Aid From Federal Government. An Important meeting of the Irrigation commission recently appointed by Gov. Wells Vas held yesterday afternoon In the office of State Engineer A. F. Doremus. This was th first session of the new board, and an outline of the work to be done was made. The members of the commission who were present were: ; A. F. Doremus, president; Senator Harden Bennion of Uintah county, and oJseph A. West of Weber county. The other commissioners, Representative William E. White of Piute county and R. L. Anderson of Sanpete., were unable to attend, but delegated del-egated the others to act in their behalf. The commission decided to centralize all its energies on the Utah lake project, and It was determined to clear up all legal obstacles that lay in the way of securing Government aid for the successful completion of the work which will be undertaken there. It was decided to learn from Chief Hydrographer Newell the status of the Utah lake project and enlist the aid of that gentleman and the two Senators from Utah .in securing the requisite sum from the Federal Irrigation fund. The commission sent a long telegram to Mr. Newell stating that all legal obstacles would be cleared away. This is considered a big step toward the realisation of the hopes of the commission. The commission expects to receive $2,000,000 from the irrigation fund If the proper showing can be made to the Interior department |
