Show HILL'S INVASION OF CALIFORNIA CONFIRMED. SAN FRANCISOO. March 18. The resort that President J. J. Hill of the Northern Securities company has his agents at work in California with a view to securing a right of way for the Great Northern railway from Portland to San Francisco, says 'the Call, is finding considerable confirmation. W. W. Remington of New York is said to have surveying parties In the field for a road to run north and south from Santa Rosa and eventually to be connected con-nected with other parts of the projected project-ed line. The southern terminus of this road is to be Bomewhere on San Francisco Fran-cisco bay, possibly on Belvedere island near Tlburon. J. M. Beck, who is alleged al-leged to represent Mr. Remington, says that the Santa Rosa road is to be an electric line and may be extended to Jlumboldt bay at Eureka. He will not admit that Mr. Remington's plans have any connection with those of James J. Hill or any other railroad president. |
