Show It is said that the activity of the French in the great Sahara is incessant. They claim two-thirds of the vast area. They are mapping every well and waddy; their engineers will next, from sttch data as they can gather, begin sinking new wells, in some of which water will be found, and eventually a great portion of the mighty waste will be reclaimed. Again, the lesser chiefs and brigands in Morocco are renewing renew-ing their depredations, and France will have to subdue sub-due them. Fpr this France will extend her boundaries boun-daries farther and farther into that region, a few years hence will have a great empire in Africa, and such a transformation will be wrought there as'has been wrought in our own "American Desert" in the past forty jttn, |
