Show NEGRO DENOUNCES JUDGE ON SCAFFOLD BIRMINGHAM, Ala.. Aug. 10. Earle Fletcher, colored, was hanged here today for the murder of Bob Payne, a fellow convict at the Flat Top mines. ' He created a scene by denouncing criminal Judge S. L. Weaver from the scaffold. He declared that the Judge had granted a writ of habeas corpus to John Williams, a white man from .another-county, .another-county, and saved his neck the day before he was to hang, but when it came to his own case, a citizen of this country, the court went fishing. Fletcher said that "goin? .fishing" was given as an excuse for the Jud?e to leave town to avoid grantlnr him a writ o' habeas corpus. |
