The Committee on Municipal Laws of the City Council . last evening recommended recom-mended the passage of an ordinance that will reduce the license of cab and expressmen ex-pressmen and put a tax on automobiles. The ordinance was drawn at the request of the cab drivers and expressmen. According to the new ordinance, which revises and amends the old ordinance regarding re-garding vehicles. Omnibuses win pay an annual tax of $12.60 instead of $25. the present rate. . Passenger vehicles, using two or more horses, will pay a tax of $10 a year Instead of $20, and the tax on one-horse passenger vehicles is reduced re-duced from $15 to $7.(0 a year. Automobiles carrying four persons will pay $15 and for a seating capacity of more than four persons the tax will be $20. One-horse One-horse express wagons are to pay $5, and two-horse wagons are to pay $8. The ordinance provides that draymen, carters, piano movers, expressmen and freight movers shall pay a tax or license. Another change is that one-horse freight wagons will pay $10 in place of $9 and two-horse wagons will pay a license li-cense of $20 Instead of $12. The license for a one-horse piano moving mov-ing wagon will cost $9, for a two-horse wagon $20; for a moving van. with one horse $12; with two horses $25. Automobile freight wagons get the highest license, It being $50 a year. Under Un-der this ordinance the license is paid on January 2 each year anl fractional parts of a year cm be obtained. ' |
