The deficit which confronted Congress when It convened has been converted into a surplus, so that on June 20 the books showed a balance of 15,955.00 0 to the good. Which is due to good times and the increase of Imports and customs revenue. ' - The exports of the'Unlted. States for the eleven months ending May 30, 1906, were greater in value than during any year since 1900, amounting to the enormous total of $1, 618,912, 839, while the imports likewise broke the record with a total of jl. 125, 821, 671 for a similar period. This is an In- . crease of exports of about $300,000,000, and in Imports of $100,000,000 over the previous maximum. |
