Show WOOED AND WED IN ONE SHORT HOUR NEW YORK. Feb. 28. Following the late night marriage recently of Henry A. Porter, a young mining promoter and guest at the Waldorf-Astoria, and Miss Reba Zeltler. daughter of a retired physician phy-sician of Columbus, N. J.. there has developed de-veloped a story of much romantic interest. inter-est. Miss Zeitler came to this city unaccompanied unaccom-panied and with the Intention of passing only a few hours sight seeing with the young promoter. Time passed so quietly, according to Mr. Porter's statement to an American reporter, that 8:30 o'clock at night found them at supper in the Casino, Central Park, and no prospect of a train to Columbus. So Mr. Porter popped the question. Miss Zeitler accepted and a Waldorf-Astoria houe detective and the hotel chaplain did the rest. "At 8 o'clock." said Mr. Porter "I was a confirmed bachelor; at 8:30 I was a prospective husband, and at 9 or thereabout there-about I was a married man. The Rev. Henry Marsh Warren of No. 48 West Ninety-fourth street, married us. "I met Mrs. Porter Mtss Zeltler. rather In Canada last summer, and saw her afterward af-terward in Philadelphia and this city. Her relatives had shown no objection to my attentions to her. and as we are both more than of age there is nothing unusual unu-sual In our marriage excepting that it was a rather hurry-up affair." Young Porter Is a son of a retired Irish I gentleman. William J. Porter, of Port I Ross, Ireland, in the Giant's - Causeway region. He vai graduated from Dublin ' university, and since coming to America has been Identified with the financial ends of gold and silver mining enterprises. |
