Show LATHERS' STRIKE WILL BE FARCE Best of feeling, Prevails Between Striking Employee Em-ployee and Employer; CHICAGO, Feb. 38. Some comlo opera features, unusual In the ordinary strike in Chicago, will be seen tomorrow tomor-row when the annual walkout of the Lathers' union takes place. According to custom the strike will last about twenty-four hours. It may be shorter, but the best of good feeling between employers ana strikers will exist all the time. In preparation for the annual "difficulty." "diffi-culty." two adjacent .halls were engaged en-gaged yesterday. One Is for the strikers strik-ers and the other will serve as the" headquarters for the -employers. ' In another room a big blackboard will show the names cf the various lathing firms Involved In the "strike." As fast as one firm "settles" Its name will be erased from th blackboard. That also will bo a signal for the men In the employ em-ploy of that contractor to return to work. The lathers hop that their, employers will see fit, to raise their wages from $4 to 14.(0 a day. In the event of a refusal, re-fusal, however. It Is piobable that no radical steps, such as the calling of a real strike, will be taken. There are 450 lathers tn the city, all of whom belong to the union, and about fifty firms of lathing contractors. |
