II A special meeting Of the Provo Commercial club was held to hear tha report of the committee' to which Waj referred the Salt Lake Independent Telephone Tele-phone company's application for a franchise, Bow pending before the City Council. The committe reported that it favored not granting grant-ing the franchise at the preent time, as It Would entail a double expense on tha merchants, mer-chants, which the merchants could not stand. The report waa adopted and the' committee waa Instructed to wait upon the City Council and prent the report. D. 8. Murray of tha Rocky Mountain Bell Telephone company waa admitted to membership in the club. The Rocky Mountain Bell Telephone mi-pany mi-pany has promised to put In a new switch-beard switch-beard In Its new building and to make such ether improvements as may be necessary In order to better the service. W. H. Ray has gone to Payson to adjust the fire losses sustained by his company there. Albert Homer has been appointed stenographer for the Fourth Judicial district by Judge Booth, in place of D. H. Roberts. The case of Michael J. Ryan, charged with burglar-, is being tried before Judg Booth. Ryan Is the man charged with having broken Into Attorney 8. R. Thurman's house.
