Show SURPRISED, BUT SILENT Rockefeller Declines to Discuss Action of House on Standard Oil. MEW YORK, Feb. John D. Rockefeller, Rock-efeller, head of the Standard Oil company, com-pany, who Is now in Lakswood. N. J., has been informed of the action taksn by the House of Representatives requesting re-questing the Secretary of Commerce and Labor to Investigate the crude oil and petroleum situation, with special reference to recent developments in tn Kansas field. Mr. Rockefeller received the news with considerable Interest, but declined to make any comment. Officials of the company in this city alKrre disinclined to discuss the mat-ter.rlf. mat-ter.rlf. H. Rogers said: "tn view of the limited Information which has reached me and the fact tiat the Standard Oil company is already the subject of inquiry. I can say nothing noth-ing regarding the mattn-. I am unacquainted un-acquainted with the nature of the Investigation In-vestigation which has been set on foot. In any event I can not see the priprlety of a statement at this time." |
