Show BUILDINGS PROJECT Inspector Wants Them Moved Back to the Property Line. At a meeting of the Council Committee Com-mittee on Streets; Wednesday night,, 1J was decided that the recommendation of Building; Inspector Lewis, that the National Bank of the Republic be ordered or-dered to remove the wooden pillars supporting- the portico in front of its entrance en-trance in Main street, be adopted; When permission to erect the portico was obtained from the Council, it was understood that the pillars were to be of Iron or stone. As they, have been erected, they are of wood, on stone' bases. This is said to be in violation of the ordinances. The Building Inspector also called the attention of the committee to the fact that a survey of the property line on the east side of Main street, from Hul-bert Hul-bert Bros. store, to Third South street, be made. Hulbert Bros.' store, he said. Is built nearly a foot beyond the property prop-erty line, encroaching on the sidewalk. He recommended that the building be ordered moved back to the property line. If this order l Issued It will affect nearly every building from Victoria alley al-ley to Third South street, as the greater number of. them are on a line with the building referred to. |
