Show DO HONOR TO SIR GEORGE WILLIAMS Meeting at Y. ti C. A. Auditorium in Memory of founder. CHICAGO. Nov. 14. So-called sentimental senti-mental religionists were scored by Rev. Frank Gunsaulus, professor of technology, technol-ogy, in Armour Institute, in an address esttrday at the memorial to Sir George Williams, founder of the Young Men s Christian Association. In the Association Associa-tion building's auditorium. "Sir George Williams was great," said .Dr. Gunsaulus. "because he had the qualities of yoUth, It's enthusiasm and undefeated energy. He was square and fair, and personally gave tone to the work which he began by holding Ideas of honor and duty more firmly than most sensational religionists have done. "He knew that the young man who receives impressions readily must have expression and not repression. He saw that the Bible was the young man's book ahd .ministered to his spiritual fredeom, quickened conscience, and highest aspirations." The auditorium or the Central asso elation was crowded with men of all classes and ages, in honor of the memory mem-ory of the great Englishman, who foundej the organization In 1844. and who died recently In London at the "age of 84 years. Resolutions expressing regret and pledging support to the principles which Sir George held fundamental to the society so-ciety were adopted. |
