Nov. 13. Dear Sir: It is impossible to describe the outrages upon the Jews in Russia. From all sources comes the urgent cry for instant help, and the immediate duty is to give prompt, ample and efficient ef-ficient reeponse. Our advices from unquestionable un-questionable sources are that the remnants rem-nants of whole communities are homeless home-less and without food. Apparently no calamity of such magnitude has befallen be-fallen Israel since the fall of Jerusalem. All the horrors of the Inquisition, all the persecutions of the middle ages seem Incomparable with this stupendous stupend-ous and unspeakable crime both in its malignity and the number of people affected af-fected and endangered. "In order to relieve the immediate distress not leRS than $1,000,000 should be raised by the Jews of America. The whole country is being organized, and every effort must be made that every Individual shall contribute to the full measure of his means. "Inclosed you will find a list of contributors con-tributors up to November 9. Your contribution con-tribution should be sent at once to Jacob Ja-cob H. Schlff, treasurer, 52 William street.
