Show ?"! 1HM TO IDENTIFY Ml Gruesome Discovery f lade by Two Young Hen While Engaged in Hunting Up City Creek Canyon, Nine Miles from v the City; Coroner Goes to Scene. F. W. Dober and Robert McClure, hunters, found the body of a man whost identity has not yet been determined, on the brow of a lonely hill three miles west of the City Creek road, and nine miles northeast of the city, at 11:30 o'clock this morning. The body wn almost entirely nude, being clad in only a shirt, undershirt, collar ami tie. The. man was a little past middle age. slightly more than medium me-dium height, and had sandy hair, beard and mustache. There wen no wounds on the body. Acting Coroner Smith and the police have been notified. Lying in the snow, almost entirely nude, without a wound of any kind visible visi-ble to indicate the manner of death, the corpse of an unknown man was found by'F. W. Dober and Robert McClure, young machinists, on the brow of a lonely hill nine mUes from the city, and on the line between Salt Lake and Davis counties, at 11:30 o'clock this morning. Stumbled Upon Corpse. Dober and McClure had spent the morning hunting for pine hens and chickens. In their wanderings north- i east of City Creek, fully three miles from the City creek road, and to the westthey suddenly stumbled upon the body of the unknown man...; '-Myftery '-Myftery Is Complete. Horrified by -their discovery the young men were scarcely able for a time to make an examination of the corpse and the surroundings. When at last they plucked up sufficient courage to make an examination, they were ( completely mystified by what they saw. Man Past Kiddle Life. The body was that of a man past middle age. The man In life had been probably a little above medium height. All of the head, save the back, had been stripped of balr. What remalr.ed hh of it light sandy color, as were the beard and mustache. Body Almost Nude. What mystified the young men more than the ttnding of the body, was that the corpse was almost entirely nude. There was only a shirt, undershirt, collar col-lar and black bow string tie on th body. The ends of the tie fluttering lit the wind first attracted their attention. No Wound on Body. A careful, but hasty examination failed to fhow a wound on the body. The young men made as careful a search as possible for the other garments gar-ments that might have been worn by the man before death, but no trace of ttrese-r-btiM be found. Neither could they find a gun, revolver or other weapon, or anything else that would even remotely indicate the cause of death. Had Been Dead for Weeks. Another strange feature in the case is th it the body had not been mutilated by coyotes or other animals of the , hills, chough it was evident the man had been dead for some weeks. Smith. had been notified and he and members of -the Police department and the young men will go to the scene of the gruesome grue-some find this afternoon to make fur-their fur-their Investigation, and remove the body, which is well preserved, to the city. |
