Show STEPS TO GUARD WATER SUPPLY Mayor Submits Letters nvSubject From Federal Fed-eral Government. In a communication to the City Council Coun-cil last evening, Mayor Richard P. Morris Mor-ris told of the result of the city's protest pro-test to the building of reservoirs in the TSalt Lake forest reserve and the letters received from Secretary of Agriculture James Wilson and Acting Forester O. ,W. Price. He declares that the Department De-partment of Agriculture will first give Salt Lake City an opportunity to pass . on the applications. The letter avers that as Silver lake Is a popular resort and't number of persona per-sona have erected cottages there, it will be impossible to keep persons away from this watershed and that they be allowed privileges that comply with f anltary conditions and the safety of . the water supply: . The letters from the Secretary and Forester - were also presented to the Council and the same were referred to the special water committee. Mayor Morris' letter also asks that the Council use Ita efforts with the next . Legislature to give the city Jurisdiction v. Ithln twenty miles from the diversion of any stream that it uses, Instead ot ten miles, as Is at present the case. |
