King in San Francisco in 1890 Their first daughter was born in m Petaluma Peta Petaluma Petaluma luma Cal Cat and d then the famil family came to Salt Lake City in 1894 where they opened a Chinese merchandIsing merchandising merchandising mer mer- house which the famil family operated until April 1936 when th the building the store occupied was razed It was one of the oldest establishments h in the city operating without a change of ownership and Mrs King specialized I in repair of broken dolls an enterprise that grew until the firm was known know throughout the west Mr King die died in November 1928 and Mrs Kin King and her daughter conducted th the store thereafter Mrs King had mastered sovera several Chinese dialects and served as adviser adviser adviser ad ad- to innumerable Chinese Her He education was largely self acquired she being a steady reader over a wide range of topics On a visit t to I China in 1935 she spent much time tim timeto to learning the needs of her husbands husband's hus hus- bands band's and her own relatives and in providing for their support before returning home She is survived by bya a daughter Dr Ruth King Chang of Shanghai wile wife of S S.
