Chamber of Commerce Com-merce and submitted by Pres. Paul Haymond of the local Chamber, as to how you can help save lives by saving food: 1. Eat less bread, cake, cookies, pies, breakfast cereals, macaroni, spaghetti, and other foods containing con-taining wheat flour. 2. Eat less butter, margarine, salad dressings, and other oils or fats. 3. Eat more potatoes, oatmeal, I cornmeal, vegetables, fruits, and other foods that can replace wheat products. 4. Eat more boiled, baked, or stewed foods instead of friend foods, to save fats. 5. Una bacon drippings and other oth-er fats from meats as substitutes for buLter and- other fats -or oils ordinarily used in cooking. Turn in to your butcher any fat that you cannot use, so that it can be made into soap. G. Save bread by buying and serving only what can be eaten, by storing it in moisture-proof wrapping in the refrgerator to prevent pre-vent molding, and by using all left over bread or toast in cookies, puddings pud-dings or stuffings. 7. Save both bread and fats by using rather than' wasting other foods. , 8 Remember that many Americans Ameri-cans habitually eat too much you may be one of them. 9. Remember, you do not quite so much food in the warm months as during the winter, and that eating more fruits and vegetables veget-ables instead of cereals will be good for your health. 10. If you have uot already done so, plant a garden it is not too late. I |
