Show SCOUT CAMPOREE' TOBEAT KELLY'S GROVE Contests To Be Featured In Two Day Meet Beginning on May 31 I The Boy Scouts of Springville and Mapleton are planning a ' "bang-up" good time Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1 at a camporee at Kelly's Grove. 1 Scouts will assemble Friday af- ternoon and set up camp. Friday evening, parents and friends are invited to join the scouts at sup- ' per at 6:30 p. m., after which will be a "big" campfire and program. pro-gram. The boys will camp over night and parents are invited to stay if they so desire. Saturday will be spent in games and contests. con-tests. Points vill be given for attendance at-tendance and contests and winners win-ners will be given suitable recognition. recog-nition. All contests are to be on the patrol basis with the excep-: tion of the attendance prize, which will be figured on percentage of ward population of scouts and ward members. ' ' There will be eight contests featured in the Saturday evening program, all of which will be of special interest to spectators as well as scouts attending. There will be the patrol flag contest, the patrol camp, tent pitching, first aid, judging, flint and steel fire making, water boiling arid pancake pan-cake cooking. Points will be given for each of the contests and judging will be on time of performance, type of contest and other details. Scouts will be expected to have all equipment on hand for the various contests. Wilford Manwaring, scout commissioner, com-missioner, will be in charge of the contest events and V. C. Mendenhall, chairman, will conduct" con-duct" the opening of the camporee. The next court of honor for Scouts of this district is also announced an-nounced for June 9, in the Sixth ward and preceding the honor court, a court of exams will be conducted at the Seminary building build-ing on June 5. |
