Show RECREATION CENTER TO BE OPENED WITHIN FEW WEEKS Work is being rushed to completion com-pletion on a new $50,000 recreation recrea-tion building on First West and Second South' street, in which will be located a large bowling alley, fountain, lunch stand and seven billiard tables The center is to be opened within the next few weeks. Owned and operated by Lewis Bird, the building is of cinder brick and concrete construction, measuring 61 feet across the front and 136 feet deep. Huge plate glass windows decorate the front of the building on either side of spacious display cases. Dark red tile being placed this week, decorates decor-ates the front. Six modern, automatically equipped maple lanes or allies are being built to occupy the west portion of the building. Rows of fluorescent lights are installed over the allies. The equipment is the finest obtainable, arranged to give players convenience, comfort and healthful exercise. The billard tables will occupy the east portion of the building. Basement space under the entire building is used for an oil heating P'ant, for- an office and storage compartments. The recreation center is to be supervised for the benefit of all ages to provide wholesome entertainment enter-tainment for young people and adults. There will be special attractions at-tractions for women, including instruction in-struction for those who do not know the games. It is planned to make the recreation center a Place for the whole family to enioy the relaxation of bowling and billards amidst surroundings which are not only luxurious, but refined. |
