Show ! o i Opening Of Fishing Season Saturday Awaited By Scores of Eager Anglers Local Planting; of Fish In Hobble Creek And Adjacent Streams By Game Department Should Improve Opening Thousands of eager anglers are awaiting the opening of the important sports thrill of the year, the annual fishing season. Opening; for tlie 1948 season, will be Saturday, June 12 at 5 a.m. This opening is for all lower streams and lakes and will not include the high Uintah Lakes and the streams above the 7000 foot elevation where the native trout are still spawning. The usual fishing for kids up to 16 years of age in the Spring Creek stream just west of the State Fish Hatchery, Hatch-ery, will open at 8 a.m. daily and close at 6 p.m. All older fishers are asked to cooperate by reserving this stream for the younger experts. Strawberry Reservoir, which has always opened at a later date in the years past, will open on the 12th of June. Fish Lake and Deer Creek Reservoir will also open on Saturday. Proof that this year's fishing should be good, is the fact that thouasnds of fish have been planted plant-ed by the Fish Hatchery in cooperation co-operation with the Springville Wildlife Federation of which Reed Averett is president. Mr. Averett has materially assisted Mr. J. D. Ford and other game officials in planting the streams in Hobble Creek canyon. All fish planted were legal size and most of them, more than legal size. The daily bag limits for this season are the same as last year: seven pounds and (or) one fish, or 15 fish, whichever is caught first. The possession limit s the same as the daily bag. Fishing hours this summer will be from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. throughout the season. Size limits are seven inch minimum. There is still a fishing license necessity, of course. |
