Show M Men Tourney Underway At SBLS Gymnasium Meet Will Continue Through Saturday Night When Winners Will Be Crowned; Sixth Is Kolob Stake Entry In Event Sixteen cams everyone a state winner are competing compet-ing in tl.e District 6 M-Men Lnstelball tournament now being run off in (he Springville nigli scriool oym Trie bier y Carol Conover, Sixth ward; Ruth HoIIey, Colleen Warner, Mapleton. Tournament arrangements are under the guidance of District Supervisor Loyd Whitlock of Pro-vo. Pro-vo. He is being assisted by the district M-Men committee, of which Glen Clark, Springville, is chairman. Other members include Velyn McClcllan Payson; Paul Gardner, American Fork; Lynn Powell, Spanish Fork, and Bill Wannacot, Provo. Park ward of Provo won the title last year, but is not back to tournament is being played here this year for the first time since 1944. The meet opened yesterday at 2 p. m., and will continue through Saturday night, at which time the champion will be crowned and appropriate ceremonies will mark the presentation of awards to teams and players. Wards with teams entered in the meet include Provo Third, Lehi Fifth, Springville Sixth, Sanford, Colo.; Charleston, Grove, Laramie, Wyo.; American Fork Fifth, Provo Eleventh, Payson Park, Wymount, Timpanogos, Windsor, Provo Tenth, Spanish Fork Second, Eure- 1 ka. 1 defend it this year, and so a new champion is assured. Officials for ! the tournament are being ar- j ranged by Eugene Hillman, high school athletic arbiter. Tickets for the meet may be had aj. the door. With each team goes a Gleaner Girl sponsor, all selected from Kolob Ko-lob stake. These girls are Afton Ash, Carol Jean Loveridge, Lela Rae Thorpe, First ward; Delores Childs, Joan Blackett, Second ward; Ruth Sargent, Ramona Leonard, Third ward; Dorothy Cranmer, Dorothy Mae Groes-ibeck, Groes-ibeck, Fourth ward; Joylene Rawle, Maxine Robbins, Fifth ward; Nila Ruth Tingey, Darlene Weight, Games will run continuously from 2 p. m. today, 4 p. m. Friday, and 6 p. m. Saturday. Championship Champion-ship games will be broadcast through the courtesy of local merchants. |
