Show FUNERAL HELD WED. FOR MRS. LURA SMITH Funeral services for Mrs. Lura M. Smith, 67, widow of Bassett Smith, who died Saturday evening following a long illness, at the family residence, were conducted Wednesday afternoon in the Second Sec-ond w&rd chapel. The Fifth ward bishopric was in charge. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, under direction of A. Y. Wheeler and Son mortuary. Mrs. Smith was born in Springville, Spring-ville, May 30, 1888, a daughter of George Albert and Rachel Scovil Mason. She lived for a number of years in Tintic, before moving to Springville. On January 20, 1897, she was married to Mr. Smith and the couple celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary last January. Mr. Smith died just a little more than a month ago, after a long illness. Mrs. Smith was an active member mem-ber of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and has served as a Relief Society teacher. She is survived by nine sons and daughters: Leo (Tiny) Smith, Payson; Earl B. Smith, Bakers-field, Bakers-field, Calif.; Ted A., Donald M., and Gerald S. Smith, Springville; Mrs. Maude Hutchinson, Mrs. Ethel Hughes-Bakersfield, Calif.; Mrs. Fay S. Bowdish, Provo; Mrs. Vonda S. Wing, Mapleton; also two brothers, Lynn Mason, Heber City, and Rollo Mason, Springville; Spring-ville; 21 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. |
