Show POULTRYMEN SET ANNUAL BANQUET WEDNESDAY, FEB. 18 1 The Utah Poultry Association of Springville and Mapleton will conduct con-duct their annual banquet and pro- Mapleton Forms Long Range Planning Board gram next Wednesday evening, February 18, at the Mapleton ward chapel, announces President Don Miner. The event, to which all members and their partners'" are being invited in-vited is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Arrangements are under direction di-rection of Mr. Miner and other officers of-ficers of the association. Persons not receiving tickets through the mail, may secure them at the local Poultry plant. An outstanding program is arranged ar-ranged for the evening including talks by officials from the head office, Salt Lake City. Mapleton city at the last regular regu-lar meeting of town board members mem-bers passed an ordinance providing provid-ing for a planning commission, according ac-cording to report from city officials offic-ials Wednesday. Under direction of Dale Despain, Utah county planning director, who conferred with the Mapleton mayor and town board, offering advice in regard to the duties and functions of the commission, seven representative citizens were named members of the planning board. These members include Berton STew, mayor; H. Reese Anderson. Jack Canto, Welby Warren, Wm. T. Tew. Mrs. Amanda Binks, Mrs. Bert Whiting and Robert Bird. It will be the duty of the commission com-mission to make such plans which will be of benefit in the future development of Mapleton. Provision Provis-ion should be made for recreation centers, various utility systems, public buildings and other structures struc-tures which will come with the growth of the town, it was pointed out by Mr. Despain. While Mapleton is yet a young city is the time to make general plans for municipal development. Cities which are planned for future fu-ture development are more attractive attrac-tive and save considerable funds by long range planning, it was explained. Farsightedness of officials in charge of the affairs at Mapleton was exhibited with the organization organiza-tion of the planning commission at this early time of development, in the opinion of county planning authorities and others who have studied such problems, it was announced. |
