Show Utah Industries To Expand In 1948 An impressive list of concerns which plan expansions during the current year throughout the state, is announced this week by the XjKlA, as follows: Alpine Packing Company will build its meat packing plant at Clearfield to prepared lambs for eastern shipment. Armco plans to begin construction construc-tion of its new pipe plant in northern north-ern Salt Lake City. Armour Creameries will expand its Ogden operations in poultry processing and butter and egg packaging to significant proportions. propor-tions. Armstrong Furnace Co., Columbus, Colum-bus, Ohio, is considering a Utah location. Bennett's will occupy its great modern paint factory in Salt Lake City. Bonneville, Ltd., will considerably consider-ably expand its plant near Wend-over Wend-over for producing muriate of potash. Carbon Dioxice ' and Chemical Co. will step up production of its Wellington, Carbon County plant from 25 to 40 tons of dry ice daily through" new construction to be completed in March. Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. has begun to build the first unit of its Salt Lake City plant. Clover Club Foods Co. will move into its expansive new factory just completed at Kaysville. Continental Baking Company's riew construction at Ogden will double the capacity of its plant. Joe Doctorman and Son Packing Co. will complete its plant in Salt Lake county in April. Fisher Baking Company begins operations in its large new bakery addition in February. Garfield Chemical and Manufacturing Manufac-turing Co. will greatly expend its production of sulphuric acid. Geneva Steel Company in February Feb-ruary begins its $20,000,000 rolling roll-ing mill expansion to convert the plant to a wider range of peacetime peace-time products, principally sheet steel in hot-rolled coils. Holsum Bread Co. will build a new and ultra-modern bakery, with double the capacity of its present plant. Ideal Cement Co. will complete its $5,000,000 expansion at Devils Slide, Utah. Lennox Furnace Co., Marshall-town, Marshall-town, Iowa, has announced plans for opening a Utah factory to build pipes and pipe fittings. Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company will expend $5,000,000 in expanding its Utah services. Mountain Valley Dairy Company Com-pany will put the large new dairy products plant at Roosevelt, purchased pur-chased from Calder Bros., into production. Murray Refractories Co., a new and important firm, will get into production of silica brick. Nehi Beverage Company of Utah is completing its large new bottling plant. Nelson - Ricks Creamery Company Com-pany will complete its plant and warehouse expansion in Salt Lake City. , Northern Indiana Brass Co., Elkhart, Elk-hart, Indiana, may proceed with its projected brass fabricating plant in Logan. Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company will begin to construct its immense new plant in Utah county. Pepsi-Cola Company of Utah will build a plant in Salt Lake City. Production of plaster at a new plant in Cedar City is planned. Richardson Company is expected expect-ed to begin the manufacture of battery cases in a large leased factory building in Ogden. J. R. Simplot Co., Caldwell, Idaho, Ida-ho, is converting the former Kalu-nite Kalu-nite plant south of Salt Lake City for chemical fertilizer production. Solar Corporation will build a modern storage battery plant at Ogden. Three smokeless fuel procesing plants may be expected to make significant progress two in Salt Lake City and one at Wellington in Carbon county. Standard Oil of California will begin construction of its Utah refinery re-finery 25,000 bbls. daily capacity. Storey Food Products Company's new and modern plant will be completed com-pleted in Ogden. Structural Steel & Forge Co. has completed its block-long new plant in Salt Lake City.
