Show RECORD CROWDS AT STAKE QUARTERLY MEET Church Officials Stress Importance of Living In Accordance With Gospel Kolob stake quarterly conference was held here on Saturday evening eve-ning and Sunday with capacity crowds attending each session. Glenn W. Sumsion of the stake presidency presided at the general .sessions. The meetings opened with a welfare wel-fare session early Saturday, followed fol-lowed by a priesthood leadership session. The priesthood meeting continued at 9 a. m., Sunday while the mothers and daughters met for a special program presented by the Girls Leadership. Elder Milton R. Hunter of the First Council of Seventy, and well known as a writer, compiler and editor, represented the church general authorities at the conference confer-ence as did W. Eldridga Grant, Jr., who was from the general welfare board. The visiting church authorities stressed the importance of temple marriages and counseled young people of the church to observe strict moral standards. The moral standard of the country, as a whole was condemned by the . speakers who told of the Vast amount of money expended annually for liquor, li-quor, which they gave as the cause of a large percent of crime. Church members were admonished admon-ished to live to their religion, to set an example by observance of church principles 'and to carry on the traditions of the early pioneer settlers. The conference Was concluded with a program in the evening, under direction of the M. I. A., with musical numbers and short talks presented by the M Men and Gleaners. |
