Show Essay Contest Sponsored On Tax Subjects Junior Chamber of Commerce Offers Cash Prizes To Students Writing Best Themes With a motive to acquaint the young people of this city with current tax problems, the Tax Education committee commit-tee of the Junior Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an essay contest in the high school. 1 Three suggstive subjects on which the students may write are : "Taxes and Citizenship," "Current Tax Trends," and "The Theory of Taxation in a Democracy." The contest is limited to students stu-dents of the senior and junior high schools, with a prize of $10 offered the winner of the best essay in the senior high school and a $5 prize to the second place winner. For the best essay in the Junior high school, a $7.50 cash prize is offered. All entries in the contest must be in the hands oft Paul K. Walker, Walk-er, principal of the high school, not later than 12 noon, Monday February Feb-ruary 17. Entries must be limited to 500 words. Appointed to select the winnrs in the contest are : Principal Walker, Walk-er, Harrison Conover, publisher of the Springville Herald, and Robert L. Parker, state chairman, Tax Education, Utah Junior Chamber of Commerce. |
