Show Mothers' Study Club Hears Book Review Mothers' Study club members met at the home of Mrs. Beulah Whiting Friday afternoon. Mrs. Etta Thorpe was hostess but due to ill health, the meeting was held at the Whiting home. The program featured a review of the opera, "Madam Butterfly", by Mrs. Mary Bird with vocai numbers from the opera by Mrs Lela Packard and several recordings record-ings were also played. Mrs. Margaret Huntington, club president, welcomed the ladies la-dies and also announced other numbers on the program including a report of the club convention held at Payson, given by Mrs. Floss Tavlor. In tribute to Mrs. Eliza Russell, a' former club member, who passed away recently, Mrs. Ella Reynolds read a poem and the members observed ob-served a silent tribute. Mrs. Huntington read a letter requesting donations to the blood bank and she also read a card of appreciation from the Russell family. During the afternoon, Mrs. Belle Bel-le W. Childs was appointed reporter report-er for the year. The entertaining rooms were enhanced en-hanced with a large vase of red roses. ' At the close of the meeting, tasty refreshments were served to club members and guests, the lat-'ter lat-'ter including Mrs. Gertrude Sumsion. |
