Show Funeral Services Held Tuesday For R. L Mendenhall Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Maple-ton Maple-ton ward chapel, for R. L. Mendenhall, Men-denhall, 75, retired farmer and stockman, who died at his home at Mapleton Saturday, following a stroke which he suffered several days before. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Mendenhall was born in Mapleton, November 15, 1873, a son of Richard and Maria C. Boy-er Boy-er Mendenhall. He had lived In Mapleton most of his life taking active part in community and church affairs. He served as bishop of the Ma- pleton ward nine years and was a member of Kolob stake high council coun-cil from 1933 to 1943. In recent years, he had done considerable temple work at St. George and in Mesa, Ariz. He had served two missions, one in the Southern States and another an-other in Southern Utah. He had served in the Mutual superintended superintend-ed y. Mr. Mendenhall was one of the largest sheep raisers at Mapleton at one time and operated a large farm in Mapleton. He was a member of the board of directors of the Strawberry Water Users Assn. many years. He Married Hannah Bird, May 14, 1902, in the Salt Lake Temple. She died in June 1943 and in 1945, he married Lenora Frazer. Surviving are his widow and seven sons and daughters, Wendell B. Mendenhall, Arthur L. Mendenhall, Menden-hall, Salt Lake City; Earl B. Mendenhall, Men-denhall, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Almon Harmer, Payson; Mrs. Hugh Hjorth, Mapleton; Mrs. Lee Clement, Ogden; Mrs. Charles Fry, Springville; also a sister, Mrs. Irene Jensen, Midvale; 24 grandchildren grand-children and eight step-sons and step-daughters. |
