Show REPORT SHOWS INCREASE IN DISEASES IN STATE For the week ending April 20th, state health officers reported a total of 800 cases of communicable communica-ble diseases, 22 of the patients were listed as non-residents. For the previous week, 652 cases were reported with 25 non-residents. Measles showed the greatest increase in-crease for the week with a total of 319 cases as compared with 164 for the previous week. Cache, Carbon, and Washington counties each reported one case of undulant fever. According to the attending physicians, one of the patients was infecting through the drinking of . "raw milk", another from eating of "ranch butter," and the source of the infection of the third has not been determined. In addition to the above cases, physicians reported three nonresident nonresi-dent cases. These patients had come into the state for treatment. A check of the records shows a marked increase of undulant fever fev-er in the state as compared with 1944. A total of 24 cases of this disease has been reported since the first of the year as compared with 15 for the entire year of 1944. The allocation of cases for 1945 by counties is as follows: Salt Lake, 2; Cache, 9; Carbon 2; Utah- 4; Sanpete 3; Morgan 1; Duchesne 1; Davis, 1 and Washington, 1. One case of tularemia was reported re-ported from Provo. According to the attending physician, the patient pa-tient has been ill with the disease for several months. Six new cases of tuberculosis were reported, one of these is a non-resident. Four of the five resident res-ident cases were discovered through selective service examination. examina-tion. The total for the week were as follows: chickenpox, 162; influenza, influen-za, 1; measles, 319; German measles, meas-les, 24; mumps, 169; pneumonia, 8, scarlet fever, 33; tuberculosis, 6; tularemia, 1; undulant fever, 6; whooping cough, 32; gonorrhea, (resident), 12; gonorrhea, (nonresident), (non-resident), 14; syphilis, (resident), 2; syphilis (non resident), 1; and rheumatic fever, 10. |
