Show Plans Underway For iy Recreation Proposed Projects To Include Swimming Pool At City Recreation Park; Organization Of Teen-Age Canteen Soon Members of the Chamber of Commerce Civic Improvements Improve-ments committee headed by W. G. Phillips, met at Memorial hall Monday evening in the form of an Open Forum to discuss improved facilities for recreation in this city. During: the meeting;, Paul Thorn, : . representing the Nebo school district dis-trict board of education, stated that plans are now to oil a portion por-tion of the back yard of the elementary ele-mentary grade schoolgrounds to provide a dry place for pupils to play. Also, when materials are available, it is planned to add four rooms to each of the grade schools and then park and landscape the front yards. A discussion of a swimming pool for Springville was conducted, conduct-ed, and Charles Franks explained the operation of a community pool in Montana. A motion was made and carried at the meeting that the City Planning Plan-ning committee be requested to get a blue print of a proposed , recreation park at the site of the - city ball park, showing proposed - recreation facilities, including a swimming pool, and present it at a meeting to be called in the near future. W. W. Brockbank, high school principal, reported on a proposed Ten-Age Canteen for the city and stated that plans should be made to organize a canteen after the close of school. F. C. Packard was asked to call :,: a meeting of presidents of the various civic clubs and P. T. A., who will act as a governing board s for the organization of a canteen and formulate plans. ! Art Gilbert, W. W. Brockbank and L. G. Sumsion were appointed J as a committee to visit teen-age ' canteens in nearby cities to deter- mine their success and method of operation. |
