Show Ross Leonard Is Appointed On National Committee Appointment of Ross Leonardj state fish and game director, as a member of the National Rivers and Harbors Congress Advisory committee was announced by the Utah Fish and Game Commission. Official notice of the appointment appoint-ment was received from William H. Webb of Washington, D. C, NRHC executive vice president. The National Rivers and Harbors Har-bors Congress is a non-partisan organization dedicated to the conservation con-servation and development of the nation's water and land resources for beneficial purposes. Now in its forty-sixth year, the congress is entering upon a program authorized authoriz-ed by the Flood Control and Harbors Har-bors Acts to spend $4,500,000,000. Part of the program includes reforestation, increased recreational recreation-al (wildlife) facilities and pollution pollu-tion abatement. The only other Utah member of the Congress directors or staff of vice-presidents is Rep. J. W. Robinson Rob-inson of Provo. "I am pleased to accept this appointment," said Mr. Leonard, "because it means additional representation rep-resentation for Utah in organizations organiza-tions that can do a great deal to augment our state's post-war public pub-lic works program. "Detailed plans are being readied readi-ed so that actual construction can start as soon as the necessary appropriations are made by congress. con-gress. These projects should contribute con-tribute materially to cushioning unemployment inasmuch as more than 80 per cent of all expenditures expendi-tures go to labor. Utah is entitled to its share." |
