I For several days, while doing a 'scene from "Othello," she's been j doing nothing but laying on a bed. j Incidentally, Ronald Colman, in j his Shakespearean garb, may sur-j sur-j prise you. He's wearing a dark curly wig (one actor called it bull's wool) and big bushy eyebrows eye-brows and his cheeks seemed puffed puff-ed out. Colman does most of the work while Miss Hasso reclines. Picture of the Week Preview ' Cry Wolf Running time : 87 min-i min-i utes. Even though production has two big names, Errol Flynn and Barbara Stanwyck, story material j is not up to the usual standards these stars are accustomed to. , Neither Flynn nor Miss Stanwyck sho wto best advantage. The picture pic-ture is based on hereditary insanity, insan-ity, familiar to most fans,' and leans on suspense throughout to carry interest. Flynn, a rich scientist, sci-entist, has a nephew and a niece to look after. The father of the two had gone insane and had died in an asylum. When the nephew, secretly married to Miss Stanwyck, died much of the family fortune goes to Flynn. Only one more heir exists, his niece. So when she apparently commits suicide, it is only natural that everyone suspects sus-pects Flynn as an evil character with murder in his heart. Barbara Bar-bara discovers that her husband isn't dead but a prisoner on the estate and Flynn tells his story. He had been a strict guardian because be-cause he had been warned to watch over the two. The nephew had killed a man in Canada and Flynn had covered up for him. Later, the nephew escapes and faces Flynn. There's a fight and the nephew is killed. At the end, Flynn and Barbara Bar-bara have that look, adding a touch of romance to the story. Ten years ago, little Jackie Moran, 14 years, was a star. He was the screen's "Huckleberry Finn," with a promised future ahead of him. But things didn't go just right, for Jackie. He dropped out of pictures and the public heard little of him. Today, with bail set at $13,000, he's facing fac-ing trial on eight charges of passing pass-ing bad checks. It seems that "Bob, Son of Battle" Bat-tle" is confusing movie-goers. Many stayed away because they thought it was just another war story. So 20th-Century-Fox has recalled all the prints and will give the picture a new title. Odds And Ends Producer Joe Pasternak has signed newcomer, Dick Simmons, for a top role in "Luxury Liner" . . . Dick has five films at MGM still to be released. ' Alex Gottlieb is one producer who '-believes '-believes in keeping busy ... he has three pictures all going at the : same time over at Warner's. "The i Dead Don't Dream" could be the name of a Boris Karloff thriller, js but it isn't . . . it's a William Boyd starrer ... which sounds like a ;. funny title for a western. Howard Duff who. did a swell job in "Brite Force," has one of the leads in .s "The Naked City," the Mark Hel-linger Hel-linger film which is being pro-duced pro-duced in New York. Carmen Mi- veranda's ve-randa's first independent produc-tion, produc-tion, "Exchange Student," will U .Z filmed in Mexico . . . story con- ." cerns a South American girl at-'' tending a U. S. college. Bud Ab-bott Ab-bott and Lou Costello are all set"1' to do "The Noose Hangs High" at '5 Eagle-Lion ... it will be their first"1"1 independent venture. Warners plan :J to go right ahead with "Silver J 1 Lining," life story of Marilyn Mil-""", ler. Allan Hale, Jr., will appear-'" in the Blanchard and Davis grid--''' iron film, "On Parade."
