Show HENRY M. WEIGHT PRESIDENT OF SPORTS GROUP Officers Named To Attend Salt Lake City Meeting Which Featured Resolutions H. M. Weight, Springville city marshal, was elected president of the Springville Wildlife Federation at a meeting Friday evening in the Fire hall. He succeeds Maurice Anderson, who was elected vice-president vice-president at the meeting. Other officers include: Hastings Smith, secretary-treasurer; George Wright, Alton Packard, Reed Rig-trup, Rig-trup, Alton Snow, James R. Long, Ted Haymond and Frank Metcalf, members of the board of directors. The meeting also featured a discussion dis-cussion on various problems confronting con-fronting the federation and the group went on record as favoring changes in the state game commission com-mission as suggested by other organizations. or-ganizations. This meeting, at which representatives represen-tatives from the various state groups were present, featured the adoption of a resolution calling for a shift of full power of personnel and management of the department depart-ment to the director, with the fish and game commission being left to function as an advisory board. Other resolutions called for the setting aside of sufficient money for the construction, when feasible, of a fish and game building; for the sale of 10-day non-resident fishing licenses at $1.50, and for the sale of non-resident fishing and hunting licenses combined at $25, and for the clearing of spe- cial non-paid deputies through local lo-cal sportsmen's groups. Another resolution specified that the payment of local associations of 25 cents per member to the federation fed-eration be made by July 1 on the basis of the number of names on the books at that time. A resolution was also adopted requesting that the state fish and game department finances be withdrawn with-drawn from the department of finance fin-ance and set up in a separate fish and game fund to be administered by the fish and game department with proper accounting records filed with the state auditor. A move to prevent the hiring of game wardens who have been convicted con-victed of game law violations was killed by a standing vote at the meeting. I |
