The section was first exhibited at the Ferry Building in San Francisco after the bridge opened in 1936; later was displayed at the Golden Gate Exposition. Then it was removed to its present site at the main entrance to the Bay Bridge Terminal. Columbia Steel Company officials said the section will be taken to company's mills at Pittsburg, Calif., to be cut up for scrap. Patricia and Sheila Herlihy, employes of the company, call attention to the need for more scrap by affixing a sign to the cable. |
