Show Down Payments On Homes May Be Eased Soon A top government housing official offi-cial reported last week, down payment pay-ment requirements may be eased soon on houses costing more than $12,000. The present credit restrictions are more severe on houses costing over that sum than on cheaper ones. Raymond M. Foley, Housing and Home Finance administrator, said "it is quite possible such changes may be made soon" in Regulation X, which sets a sliding scale of minimum down payment on homes. But Foley told the National Saving Sav-ing and Loan League there is no prospect for removing the regulation regula-tion entirely. "We do not believe it should be removed at an early date," he said. Federal authorities are aware, Foley said, that "there is a great deal of demand from builders and real estate brokers that Regulation Regula-tion X be removed . . . that it is unnecessary and that it is unduly restricting the market." Foley said, however, there are "many expressions" to the con-traray con-traray from private lending interests. |
