Show Fish Restoration Program in Utah To Get Fed. Funds Utah's fish restoration program will receive a total of $73,599.13 in Federal funds during the current cur-rent fiscal year, Senator Arthur V. Watkins announced today. This allocation is roughly 45 per cent more than the 1956 grant of $51,169.88, the Utah Senator was advised by Director John L. Farley of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Ser-vice. The Federal Government contributes con-tributes 25 per cent of the costs of the jointly-sponsored program. The apportionment for fiscal year 1956 was utilized for 7 fish restoration projects. Fund commitments commit-ments for the 1957 fiscal year have not been announced. Projects undertaken in this program pro-gram in Utah during the past year, and total Federal-state funds committed; com-mitted; were outlined as follows by Director Farley: An inventory survey of physical, chemical and biological characteristics character-istics of Utah fishing waters, $26,-250; $26,-250; Statewide rough fish eradication eradica-tion efforts in 12 lakes, $5,430; Creel census at Bear Lake and Fish Lake to evauate stocking, $15,750; payments for lease on Strawberry Reservoir, $2,250; supplemental sup-plemental investigation of the use of brine shrimp as food for trout in fish hatcheries, $450. Operation of Strawberry Reservoir Reser-voir station to facilitate spawning and provide source of trout eggs, $750; construction of access road to Strawberry Reservoir, $4,500; an economic study of fishing and hunting in Utah, $4,500; acquisition acquisi-tion of 3,000 acres in Duchesne County for Lake Canyon Big Game Range and Fishing Lake, $2,496.50 and supervision of Fish and Wildlife Wild-life Coordination program in Utah, $5,850. |
