Show Interesting Pioneer History at DUP Meet The home of Permelia Felix was the meeting place for members of Camp Kolob DUP on Thursday afternoon of last week. She was assisted by Mrs. Aleen Lopez, Mrs. Maggie Daley and Mrs. Marjorie Day. Mrs. Felix was also in charge of the meeting in the absence of Capt. Gertrude Clements. Mrs. Mary Christensen gave the history of her husband's great grandparents, Neils Christian Nielsen Niel-sen and his wife Karen Sophia Ericksen, who later married Jens Mickelsen. They were immigrants from Denmark who settled in Spanish Fork and Lake Shore. When Mrs. Nielsen arrived in Salt Lake City, she was a widow, her husband having died with" cholera on the way to Utah. She married Mr. Mickelsen in Salt Lake and they walked to Fillmore to see two of her children who had come to Utah some time before. Mrs. Dorothy Brown gave the Camp lesson for the month. It was decided to hold the Christmas Christ-mas party on December 13, at the home of Mrs. Florence Boyer. Twelve camp members were in attendance at the meeting. |
