One hundred and twenty-six years ago a small group of American Ameri-can patriots assembled in Independence Inde-pendence Hall and signed an in-strumet in-strumet that laid the foundations for the rise and development of the greatest nation on the earth. The truths that they "held self-evident" self-evident" are as true today as they were in the days of Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson. The philosophy "that all men are created free and equal" and they have the divine right of "life, liberty and the pursuit' of happiness" happi-ness" stand today as the only steadfast bulwarks against the communistic creed and aggression. Now, of all times, do we need to be reminded of these basic truths. In these days of bureaucracy, bureauc-racy, special privilege, and the "isms" that plague the minds of , men, a rededication of ourselves to the cardinal principles of democracy demo-cracy is vitally necessary. "Governments are instituted among men to insure these rights" declares the Declaration of Independence, Inde-pendence, and should obtain their powers from the "just consent of the governed." It is the duty, then, of every citizen to take an active part in the processes of government and to express his consent or his dissent dis-sent at each and every election.
