Show when I first came over here to Korea in January 1951. In May 1951 I was sent to Japan and spent 11 months in that country. coun-try. They were very happy months for me and I have a lot of fri&nds there. Once one makes friends with the Japanese and learns their customs, cus-toms, it is very easy to get along there. I left Japan in April and came back to Korea, and am now serving serv-ing with the 14th Infantry re-ment. re-ment. As long as I have been in the Far East, I have never met anyone from the state of Utah. There is not much of anything going on over here at this time, other than patrol action. I am driving a messenger jeep, which is a very dangerous job. I have to" deliver to all the companies on the front lines. Springville Man Graduates from Candidate School Glenn W. Coffman, Jr., son of Mr. ami Mrs. Glenn W. Coffma:i of this city, has graduated from Officer Candidate School at Fort Belvoir. Va., according to word received re-ceived here. Graduation exercises are to be held on Tuesday, June 24, when he will receive the rank of Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers, En-gineers, U. S. Army. . WITH TASK FORCE 77 IN KOREA Now serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Boxer are two Springville men, Daniel L. Jones, airman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Jones, and Max W. Allan, airman apprentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warner Allan. The Boxer is on her third tour of duty in the Far East. Her pilots have raided Communist supply lines throughout North Korea. Richard D. Wing of Mapleton has arrived home for a short visit with his mother and other relatives. rela-tives.
