Show 11 - Lovely Wedding Reception Honors New Mr. and Mrs. Granvel Kirkland Crisp autumn air, georgeous fall flowers and sincere hospitality were all combined in the lovely wedding reception on Friday evening of last week honoring the new Mr. and Mrs. Granvel Kirkland. in the Third-Ninth Third-Ninth ward church. The charming bride, formerly Miss Margaret Alleman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Alleman, and Mr. Kirkland, exchanged vows in the Salt Lake temple on Septem-ber Septem-ber 18. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. George O'Neill Kirkland of Glen St. Marys, Florida. A beautiful imported Chantilly lace and satin gown was chosen by the bride for her wedding attire. It was fashioned with soft roll-collar roll-collar with seed-pearl edging and long pointed sleeves and chapeb train. Her butterfly veil of illusion illus-ion fell from a lace bonnet outlined in seed-pearls. An orchid surrounded surround-ed with stephanotis and streamers of white satin ribbon formed the bridal bouquet. Miss Betty Jean Alleman attended attend-ed her sister as maid of honor appearing ap-pearing in a rose paper taffetta. Bridesmaids were Geraldine Murray, Mur-ray, Fay Whitney, Carol and Car-ma Car-ma Harper, with Karen Elaine Kirkland as flower girl.' Their gowns were of chageable green and rose paper taffetta and they j held colonial bouquets of gardenias rose-buds and tiny mums with satin streamers. Howard Schmidt of Milwaukee, Wis., was best man. Parents of the bride and groom were also in the receiving line, Mrs. Alleman choosing a blue crepe afternoon dress for the reception re-ception and Mrs. Kirkland, a rose biege suit. Their corsages were of gardenias and roses. A delightful program entertained entertain-ed the guests during the evening announced by Toasimaster George Bird. Mrs. Orvil Clark gave a vocal number accompanied by Mrs. Maurice Bird; Janice Sargent, Flora Fietkau and Edna Nielson a vocal trio; Karen Bates, accord-ian accord-ian selections; Mrs. Grant Evans, a reading. Mr. and Mrs. Marcel Tingey gave a toast to the bride and groom. The invocation was given by Grant Alleman and the benediction benedic-tion bv Claude Kirkland. Greeting guests at the door were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sumsion, while Mrs. Ed Jones and Mrs. Marcel Tingey attended the guest book. In charge of the serving were Mrs. Omar Hansen, Mrs. Reed Fietkau, Mrs. Ellis Murray and Mrs. Joseph Rawle, assisted by Veda Reid, Carol Ann Alleman, LaRae Fietkau, Margene Rawle, Mrs. Kenneth Anderson, who served. ser-ved. The gifts were arranged by Mrs. LeGrande Bunker, Mrs. Wm. Pratt and Colleen Alleman, with little Lois Reid and Karen Bates receiving receiv-ing at the door. A beautiful three-tiered wedding cake was the center of attraction. Arranged on a hand-crocheted cloth over pink satin, it was trimmed trim-med with pink and green and pink carnations and sprays of green were laid around it. The cake was topped with a miniature bride and groom. After a few days wedding trip, the couple plan to make a home in Provo. Mr. Kirkland, a senior at the Brigham Young university, will continue his studies as a prelaw pre-law student. Margaret has been employed in the treasurers office on the BYU campus. |
